Guidelines
The Australian Travel Plan can be issued at any time unless you require cover for an Existing Medical Condition (refer PDS)
If you require cover for an existing medical condition you cannot purchase insurance more than 12 months prior to travel.
Insurance is not available to travellers outside Australia
There is no provision to suspend this policy during the period of insurance
This policy ends once you have returned to your normal place of residence within Australia
The QBE Australian Travel Insurance premium is payable per adult. A maximum of 2 adults can be named on a Certificate of Insurance. Accompanying child or children, grandchildren, stepchildren, nieces and nephews who are under 25 years of age at the time the Certificate of Insurance is issued, and who are financially dependant on you during the trip, are covered at no additional cost. An excess of $50 applies to the Australian Travel Plan.

Specified Item Cover
You can cover items worth more than the item limits for the selected travel plan on payment of an additional amount. Items separately insured under Specified Item Cover are covered up to the amount specified, even if this amount exceeds the total luggage limit set out in the Schedule of Benefits.

You must insure the total value per item. Please ensure you have proof of value (not more than12 months old) of any item you specify. This will be required should you make a claim. Depreciation does not apply to specified items in the event of a claim.
Specified Item Cover is subject to the tems and conditions as detailed under Section F1 ''Luggage and Personal Effects' .
Cruising Cover
If your travel plans include cruising for 4 or more consecutive days then you must purchase the Cruising cover in addition to your Australian Travel Plan otherwise there will be no cover under this policy for the period of the trip that you are cruising.
Additional Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess Cover
If you are renting a car, campervan, motorcycle or boat you may have to pay an insurance excess for an accident or theft. QBE have included cover for rental vehicle insurance excess hovever you may with to increase this cover for an additional amount.

QBE Australian Cancellation and Additional Expenses - Travel Plans
Offers basic but essential cover per person
This policy will cover you, if you are travelling within Australia and you only want cover for the non-refundable part of pre-paid travel arrangements or additonal travel, accommodation and meals.
Availability
Available to Residents and Non Residents of Australia regardless of your age or existing medical conditions.
Cover for up to 12 months, expires when you return home to your residence in Australia . (Please read PDS as conditions apply)
* Cancellation and Additional Expenses
Cover if you are unable to start or finish the trip because of the death, sudden serious illness or serious injury arising before or during the trip of a relative or business partner or person in the same employ as you, who is a resident in Australia
Cover if your pre-paid scheduled public transport services or pre-paid tour have been cancelled or restricted because of severe weather, natural disaster, riot, strike or civil insurrection.
Cover if your prepaid accommodation has been destroyed or is uninhabitable due to severe weather or natural disaster and no alternative equivalent accommodation is available in the vicinity. You must have done everything reasonable to obtain alternative accommodation.
Cover if you are required to do jury service or received a summons to give evidence in a criminal court of law
Cover if you are confined by compulsory quarantine.

Cover if you have been involved in or your travel arrangements have been cancelled or delayed by a motor vehicle, railway, air or marine accident or incident. You must have written confirmation.

Cover if your passport, travel documents or credit cards are lost or damaged
Cover if you are unable to start the trip because your employer cancels your pre-arranged leave and you are in full-time permanent employment. (Only availble if you purchased this travel insurance no later than 7 days after paying for your prepaid travel arrangement and is limited to $1,000)
Cover if a wedding, conference, prepaid concert, course, tuition or sporting event has been cancelled and the sole reason for your trip is to attend that event
Cover if a tour operator or wholesaler has cancelled a tour because there are not enough people to begin or complete the tour
A $50 excess applies to this Travel Plan. This excess will apply to each claim that you make under the policy except where the 'no excess' applies.

OMEGA travellers' assistance teams are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide you with assistance when you need it most.
Qantas Frequent Flyer Points - One Qantas Frequent Flyer point can be earned for every two dollars spent on the Australian Travel Plan. You will be eligible for these points upon departure. Points will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account within 6 weeks of departure.
Cooling off Period ... If, having purchased the policy, you want to return it, you can do so within 14 days of receiving the Certificate of Insurance and obtain a full refund, provided no right or power has been exercised under it by you (eg no claim has been made) and your trip has not commenced. QBE's Distributor will arrange for a refund of the amount payable within 15 business days of you cancelling your policy. The Cooling Off Period does not apply to policy or trip extensions.
